D.A.R.E. Program

DARE or Drug and Alcohol Resistance Education, a program provided by the local RCMP, educates grade 6 students about the dangers of drugs and alcohol. This is an 8 week program in which students participate in group discussions, perform role play, and do other activities to learn the harmful side effects of various drugs, build self-confidence and discover numerous ways to say “No!” Other topics include media portrayal and advertising, peer pressure and healthy choices. Students enjoy the opportunity to work closely with a member of the RCMP and learn more about their role in the community as well. The end of the 8 weeks is celebrated with a graduation and certificate of completion.
